YUE
There are Nine paramount sacred Mountians in China amongst many other lesser ones, Heng Shan , North and South, Song Shan near Luoyang with Shaolin in its slopes, Hua Shan, Emei, JiuHua, Putou, and Tai Shan.
Each of these mountains has a special character: YUE
The oldest form of Yue show sthe peak and its linked slopes and hills.
I'm particularly fond of this character since its evolution so clearly shows the changes over the centuries from pictograms and idoegrams to modern cursive forms.
The seal script form shows wild dogs or wolves howling with open mouths words under a mountain as does the full tradtional form also.
Then there''s the cursive form.
As for pronounciation it sseems it was originally something like * ngak or *ngok .
The Unicode is 5dbd for the full traditional form and if you want the simplified form which actually reminds me more of the oldest form though its often derived from the cursive shorthand has the Unicode 5cb3.
