Rat Versus Mice

Chinese New Year Events in Sydney

Has anyone noticed the delightful and ironic way various pieces of PR for community events for the Chinese New Year are tastefully... if that's the right word ? ... trying to avoid and evade mentioning its the YEAR OF THE RAT ?!

I have on my desk one outstanding example of this, a PR handout for events on February the 16th held by Willoughby council at Chatswood Mall. Rather than showing a mouse or a rat it features a strange cute dancing hybrid with a mouse's ears and a rat's nose !

Fortunately SHU can be translated as mouse or rat or indeed a variety of small mammals depending on whatever words its combined with!

Has anyone else seen any strange evasions or mutant mice?

February 7 Year begins the Year of the Rat ... not just the cute mice?

Comments anyone?
