Whether you're homeschooling and sending your offspring to a public or private school chances are some of them or a lot of them may be using and abusing Yahoo Answers.
Yahoo Answers can be a useful resouces but far too many users abuse it!
Things I have seen.
1) Asking people to do a poster's entire homework assignment.
2) Not asking people HOW to do a question or essay or quizz
3) Asking for websites and not books in a way that suggest the poster didnt even bother to use google at all.
4) Hideous combos of text message style spelling with zero grammar skills.
5) Spoilt brats claiming answerers s abused them cos the answerer did not do ALL their homework for them. Yahoo answers is not suppose to be a FREE homework service.
If you bought your child a computer and net connection so they can do research at home please check they are using Google or Wikepedia BEFORE they go to Answers and that they know what search parameters are and how to create and use them online.
Please also encourage them to use the library as well. Judging from what I have online a lot of users would be better of using an encyclopedia at the library since they have no idea where to find or how to use an online one.
Some parents seem to think a computer and a net connection is a cheaper version of tutoring.
Whether you're using tutoring or a homework your child still needs to understand basic research skills are NOT asking some one else to do the work for them!
Basic research skills are asking : WHO WHAT WHEN WHY HOW
Please check they have these before they go online!
