Do Fashionistas care about Aussie Workers?
I dont think I've seen more than one or two posts yet in ANY section on the Pacific Brands Failure and what this means to Australian workers or fashion or the ready to wear industry?
Has it occurred to anyone that maybe if Aussie fashion designers had taken their designs to ready to wear firms that are Australian based instead of using underpaid outworkers or third world sweat shops just maybe may be we might have more jobs for workers and more workers having the wages to buy ready to wear and the occassional piece of haute couture?
Perhaps designers (industrial or clothing) should have been working together to engineers to come up with cheaper ways to make clothing here instead of offshore?
I 've seen blogs about the Milan Autumn Fashions but where are the blogs about the people who ACTUALLY make the garments?
I've seen no media reports aobut fashion designers or fashionistas supporting the clothing workers demos in Melbourne?
Where were you sisters?
