Seven things I learnt from January 2010 Vogue
Vogue Australia that is ...
1) Shoe designers particularly if their name is McQueen would rather be doing hoof covers.
Hello shoes as sculpture or foot decoration I understand but make them FUNCTIONAL.
2) The ideal model SADLY is still a 6ft tall blond 12 year with no boobs pretending to be an adult.
Duh any chance of making fashion an ACHIEVABLE fantasy not a totally unrealistic one?
Also like where are the ASIANS and ABORIGINE models? Every day while I see girls who are total fashion disasters I see other girls who should be cover models if they were the "right" ethnic group and height. Petite and large ladies can be elegant and graceful too!
3) Items of DELUXE Jewellery have personalities especially compared to some of the models in this issue. Especially the ones who seem to have been produced by some cloning operation in Eastern Europe or Russia?
4) Some designers STILL believe there is a market for hundred dollar plus tee shirts that are not silk and STILL think bland colors are "NEUTRAL" . Who buys these?
5) Stylists still believe its okay to "MIX" patterns in shoots.
Yes we realise you only have a limited number of pages to show off all those clothes but please some of us actually want to see the PRINT? Clashing colors and patterns distract from our appreciation of the print design? MMM?
6) Fortunately there are some original Australian designers. What a pity the article on Rittenhouse was only two pages. I would have loved to have a photo shoot featuring more of their designs.
7) Thankfully Dion Lee is NOT one of the designers who have gone out of business as he has a fresh and innovative yet elegance approach to cuts and style. Long may he continue to bring us excellence!
Sadly there were only two images of his work in this issue!
