Tote Bags Versus Stilettos!
October 7th 2008 06:21
Why Tote bags are better for you than Stilettos?!
There was an article in the Sunday papers on the sort of shoes that suggest certain fashionistas and shoe designers are into BDSM or all have the solid as steel muscles in their feet and ankles of professional ballet dancers.
"High" heels with no heels? Ugh!
Aren't "normal" stilettos torturous enuff?
Here's why a good Tote Bag is more important than wearing spike heels.
Unlike a real stiletto I doubt you can use stiletto heels for self defence unless you are a natural gymnast and can contort yourself into some very odd poses. Like you could stomp on a potential rapist or muggers or pervert's foot still you still have to kick them off and run away!
A Tote bag however is useful. You can have a stylish interesting message or pattern or logo on the side and put stuff in it!
Lunch books gym gear shopping magazines your reading glasses books your ipod newspapers a sketch pad drinks chocolate books a note pad your phone.
What can you do with stilettos apart from posing and crippling your feet?
In good design FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION.
Shoes are for supporting feet not distorting them.
Fashionistas often claim to be interested in good design.
Stilettos and other decorative objects that go on your feet but are not shoes or sandals are SOOO NOT good design!
I'd rather be a style mistress than a fashionista.
If I ever win the lottery or this blog miraculously rises into that top percentile from which one actually makes money I'll be spending money on good Italian shoes that do support the feet and not the sort of Milanese monstrosities that justify the existence of PETA!
