The trouble with Xtians
Over the last few years I have noticed the spread of the slang term Xtian to refer to Christians especially those of a conservative fundamentalist to a fanatical degree. Sadly this term also gets applied to Christians in general.
Yesterday I encountered someone online whose behaviour illustrates and justified this word.
Said individual was suggested to me as a friend by Facebook claiming we had half a dozen mutual friends so I clicked!
However since being accepted not once had she sent as much as one comment or wall post or message but I did keep getting a constant feed of bible quotes and other stuff from her page which I found odd since they were supposedly a fellow fan of BoP?
Finally I spent what I thought was a polite message pointing out due to my broken arm I would appreciate it if rather than sending me verses she helped me make up for lost income by passing on the URLS for my Cafe Press SHOP and Gallery etc etc.
She went ballistic and accused me of asking her for a handout asking for money etcetcetc and apparently hadn't read one single one of my posts mentioning how my broken arm had restricted my work hours .
I commented back on her face book explaining about my broken arm and she just keep on and on accusing me of attacking her religion and asking me what I was doing to spread the word?
I'm not going to tell you what else she posted ... it was just plain rude and hostile but I've seen this behaviour in other "XTIANS" so the characteristics of the XTIAN seem to be
Obsessing on spreading the word ie evangelizing but not actually understanding the verses they throw at other people
Thinking Evangelizing is more important than plain practical charitable actions
Claiming some one is not a Christian if they are more tolerant informed educated than the Xtian
Feeling threatened if the actual Christian they are attacking has a a higher education than them and mentions they can read NT GREEK
Getting more and more incoherent the more you try to calm them down by trying to inject some logic into the conversation.
This is not Christian behaviour.
When you encounter one of these XTIANS or fundamentalists and fanatics of any kind please remember some of us do value love faith and hope rather than infecting others with beliefs that narrow one's world view.
Have you had a run in with a XTIAN?
Tell us about it?
