The Sneaky Sensual Cinquain

The Sneaky Sensual Cinquain.
What's a Cinquain. A five line 22 syllable verse form developed by an American poet Adelaid Crapsey. The first line has two syllables, the second four, then the third has six and the fourth eight and you finish with with two syllables.
This form has to be an attempt to combine the best features of haiku, waka, and quatrains.
Syllabic verse is tricky in English. You have to balance image and sound WITHOUT just breaking up a statement into phrases which some poets make the mistake of doing.
Here's a few of my. Regard them as expereiments in verse rather than examples since many people seem to either love or loathe cinquains.
All poems copyright to J. Vaux
February 8 1990 Night storm
Midnight
Thunder breaks through!
Ripping the fall of rain
Slashing the sky apart loudly
Lightning!
Another late night poem from july the same year
Midnight
and that color
Niether blue or quite black
Surrounds the Stars with Infinite
Shadow.
Something lighter ot finish off
March 29 1983 The Lordings
Magpies
Striding along
Across my lawn strolling
Lords of their little world
THEY ARE!
Magpies are medium size native aussie corvids
who are very well adapted to surbana!
They seem to believe god provided humans to create lush lawms full of worms and bugs and toss them food scraps and provide them with cats dogs and bicyclists to tease!
I've shown you the structure and a few samples that I hope show you the limitations and temptations of the form. Now play with the idea!
