A Latin Compline Hymn

April 19th 2009 16:36
Te lucis ante terminum

This is a Latin Compline Hymn probably created in the sixth century A.D.

Te lucis ante terminum,
Rerum creator, poscimus
Ut solita clementia
Sis praesul ad custodiam.

Procul recedant somnia
Et noctium phantasmata,
Hostemque nostrum comprime
Ne polluantur corpora.

Praesata, pater omnipotens,
Per Jesum Christum Dominum,
Qui tecum in perpetuum
Regnat cum sancto spiritu.
