Those of you who read comics mainstream or independent or visit comics shops or Newsarama or glance at spoiler review posts in online forums or Wikipedia have probably noticed that the two major comics companies DC and Marvel have started what I call their "summer UNepics" .
I typed UNepics cos the purpose of both Secret Invasions and Final Crisis and their various tie-ins andcrossovers seems to be
a) fiixing dangling plot lines
b) retro'ing out previous plotting errors
I am now going to make predictions about the possible endings of both summer UNepics.
Marvel: Everyone's A Skrull. Or nearly everyone! The revelation that Skrulls replaced major characters for unknown lengths of time will be used to kill off er remove any low rating or unpopular characters and to restore mutant powers to various House of M victims.
Hopefully this will be used to fix the Spiderr man books Everyone got collective Amnesia fiasco? I'm not going to comment on the Skrulls are now terroists on a religious crusade to fufill prophecies theme. Skrulls now equals ??? Guess who? Oh how subtle NOT!
DC: Hopefully Batman and Catwoman will go into couple therapy after she saves him from the Black Glove when the "boys" couldnt! Could we be so lucky? It looks like we're stuck with Darkseid being resident on Earth. Groan. Chris Kent will get out of the Phantom Zone as soon as some editor thinks of a character name for him that doesnt violate a certain copyright. We're stuck with SuperboyTHUGSTA who may turn out to be the TIME TRAPPER?!
Finally and this probably sigh will not happen but hey maybe someone will see it and steal the idea ... please !!! Black Adam finally finds out what Darkseid did and how he manipulated Adam's antihero anger managment issues and we get the Epic battle of the century between the two. Preferably drawn by Jimenez or Perez or Byrne?
The current summer UNepics explain why I only read about two or three mainstream comics.
When's the next Birds of Prey out? Sob!
