Solar Where?

Solar Power
Where are the products?
Where are the products?
Has anyone else noticed that apart from solar hot water systems there are very few solar powered items available OUTSIDE speciality stores?
Is there an alternative energy product section in Kmart or David Jones or even Dick Smith? NO! ON a whim I hunted through the mall and all I could find was one solar powered lantern and a kit for kids to make a mini fan!
Online there are several sites offering industrial solar panels in varying sizes but most of them ... well you have to pay extra for shipping and installation or the shop front / factory is interstate or in a site only accessible by car?
This of course means the people most likely to benefit from solar powered gadgets are those folk who already have spare "disposable" income and plenty of money to pay power bills off or on the grid?
So how do the rest of us manage to move off the grid?
One item I would like to see in shops is a simple device I wish I could build myself if I could get the parts?
Where are the small portable solar battery re-chargers?
I'ld love to take this laptop off the grid and recharge the battery using solar power with something like one of those flexible panels that I could put out on the balcony while I'm out during the day and then come home and plug the computer to the battery!
Or use solar power to recharge camera phone and radio batteries!
Or a slighter larger panel I could install that feeds power into the main power grid by day while I'm out in exchange for a reduction in my power bill?
When will these finally become commonplace at low cost ?
The day before the last oil well runs dry?
