Slender and Willowy
September 18th 2011 06:17
This is what Slender and Willowy is!
Botticelli's model in this work and other of his paintings was a REAL Florentine woman. Yes a real person!
For centuries people have referred to this work as an example of a tall willowy slender blonde beauty.
Yet there are people who seeing this would think she's "Fat and Ugly" cos she's not "Skinny"?
What's wrong with the fashion industry that they're seemingly obsessed with such a narrow UNdiverse range of body sizes and heights?
People claim I'm "insulting super skinny blondes" by asking for more diversity? No I just want people to think about diversity. If I'm very severe and serious even sarcastic sometimes about the subject its to get you to THINK about it!
Beauty isnt just skinny or slender blondes! Or brunettes either!
On or off the catwalk!

Strawman argument. No one EVER said you were insulting skinny models by asking for diversity.
You insulted skinny models by referring to them in insulting terms. You didn't just ask for diversity, you said not to use these super skinny models because they were "cliched mutant blonde elf child "
THAT is insulting. Not asking for diversity. That is fine. But saying there should be diversity because these current models are "cliched mutant blonde elf child " is insulting. And if you CAN NOT SEE THAT FACT then it explains a lot as to why no one you interact with will hire you or buy things from you. You rant about your point and twist everything to fit that point and REFUSE to listen to anything anyone has to say if they disagree with you.
And that is the wrong mindset for the career you want. Trust me, I've seen it. A lot.
That you are STILL going on about this, and twisting my words so you can rant about it, shows the kind of person you are.

Okay look I have never meet you in person.
If you live in Sydney and really are a designer email me and let me discuss this further with you elsewhere?
You might find it refreshing to deal with someone who's not a clone?
Why? Because the PRIMARY topic of this post is standards of slenderness and whether or not Botticelli's Venus is more realistic?
Which you didnt comment on?
Do you actually want a discussion or do you just expect everyone to agree with you?
If you truly think my style is insulting I suggest you pay a visit to mamamia.com and check out some of the comments there which are much harsher?

Do you not get how insulting that is to other people? To the people I work with? That they are just "clones"? Well, I like these people. Others enjoy these "clones", that's why they get work. YOU might think they are just "clones", but that is your opinion, and frankly, who are you to comment on an industry that you don't work in.
I had to lol at the "do you just expect everyone to agree with you" remark. You're the one here trying to push her point of view that you know better than everyone else in the industry. That they are wrong for being "clones" or hiring "mutant elves" and you are right because you would do it differently.
And once again you turn attention elsewhere, passing insults on to people at mamamia.com rather than just accepting that words you have said were insulting.
Sorry, no, I do not wish to meet with you, and if I have the misfortune to see your name or work across my desk, I will remember the disparaging comments you have made about other people that you want to work in an industry with.

B) If I intended to be insulting I would name SPECIFIC individuals
C) It's not about me or you being right or wrong. Like I said I want people to at least consider doing things differently.
D) Are you an ex model or something?

B) You do not need to name SPECIFIC individuals to be insulting. That is a ridiculous thing to say. If I were to say women from the town you lived in were all lazy idiots, that would be insulting, despite me not naming SPECIFIC individuals. Nice attempt to get out of being insulting, but it doesn't work.
C) I never said it was about either of us being right or wrong. I never said it was about you wanting people to consider doing things differently. It is about you wanting people to do things differently because the current way uses "mutant elves" which is INSULTING.
D) What does that have to do with anything? I'm sure you will twist this into something meaning that my opinion on you being rude doesn't count. Perhaps because you believe I was a skinny "mutant elf" that means I'm sticking up for them? You are hilarious. Definitely on my black list of people to never work with, and I'll be sure to inform my work colleagues of the same.
Good luck with your future endeavours.
