When Pigeons Commute
or start to should we be worried?
A TRUE Urban Tale from Sydney
I'm catching the train back from Chatswood and suddenly spot a pigeon casually strolling around the carriage! Yes just walking along quite relaxed and calmly pausing now or then to peck to food scraps or rubbish back and forth along the carriage.
I have no idea where the pigeon got on but I suspect it was Chatswood which has a large group of resident pigeons who despite all attempts haunt the mall and have for years and that the pigeon was quite deliberately commuting and may have done this before!
Why do I think this? The pigeon was near the doors when we stopped at Wahroonga and looked out of them for a moment or two. Did it try to fly out and escape? No! I swear it was thinking "well no that's not my stop I can't see anything I recognize. I'll just stay aboard!"
It then calmly proceeded to going back to patrolling under the seats.
Whatever they're putting in junk food ... well it may be bad for humans but it seems to be making the pigeons smarter!
Pigeons riding trains!
