PALE IS (not) PRETTY

PALE IS (Not) PRETTY.
Yes I've seen the April Vogue Australia Cover. Groan it looks like the winter season will be given over to the promotion of more bland washed out colors claiming to be pastels and neutrals and beiges.
Mind you as an inspiring surface designer I have a bias here. I want to see a variety of subtle or strong prints with off whites and creams having delicate whispers of patterns like Japanese kasuri or bold warm colors that reflect the Australian environment.
I do not want to see Vogue covers featuring a model who looks like a Bratz doll!
Wow have Vogue's editors noticed Sydney and the rest of Australia is multi ethnic and that even Anglo Celts are not all pastel pale?
I'm sure those fashionistas who are Viet or Chinese or well not Anglo-Celtic will be thrilled to once again see a young tall thin Anglo-Celtic adult pretending to be a 14 year old (well she certainly doesn't look like an adult despite her actual age which I looked up not being 14) !
Could some one please kidnap the stylists and editors and several major Australian designers and make them walk through Sydney's' outer suburbs so they can see all the girls and women in Sydney who are beautiful even if they are not nearly 6ft tall and slender with pastel pale skin.
I've seen some exquisite Eurasian girls and women and ladies of Polynesian descent who are just as elegant and maybe more so than some of the animated Kewpie dolls playing dress ups on recent covers.
This month's cover is a perfect example of why fashion needs a reality check and a healthy switch back to using models of a variety of heights and body shapes!
Please no more Bratz dolls models!
Please???
