OMI HAKKEI
Replication enhances the probability of survival.
That appplies to genes and memes. Both are information. I'm publishing more of my notes on Hakkei to help that information replicate to make it more accessible. Given the number of sites and books I had to visit and read to compile this visit I'm saving some art student time searching for it hopefully. So here's my list of the Eight Views of Lake Biwa.
The image below illustrates the first place on the list!
The Eight Views of Lake Biwa or Omi Hakkei are as follows:
Wild geese Descending at Katata Katata no Rakugan
Some prints also show the Ukimodo temple. Katata is modern Hon Katada.
Night Rain at Karasaki Karasaki no Yau.
The rain at night falling on the pines that surround the Karasaki Jinja a shinto shrine.
Evening Snow on the Hira Ranges Hirasan no Bosetsu.
The Hirasan range with its three peaks rises to the west of Lake Biwa.
Miidera Temple Bell at Evening Miidera NO Bansho.
Still a popular postcard image. Three Wells temple is Tendai.

Awazu Village in the Mists. Awazu No Seiran.
A fishingn village and also a Jomon site and the place where a famous Genpei war battle was fought.
Seta Sunset. Seta no Sekisho. Sunset over the old wooden bridge crossing the river exiting the lake . Th eold bridge has been replaced by a modern steel and concrete one. The river is the Uji which flows from here all the way to Osaka bay.

Now a suburb of Kusatsu and the shore line has changed.
Hope this list is useful for some student of Jpanese art?
One last image to finish off. A print of Yabase. Enjoy!
