Minoyaki or Mino ware includes a variety of glazes shapes and styles developed from the Mino kilns in hte early 16th century:
1) Kiseto or Yellow Seto developed from older Seto glazes from refugees from the Onin civil war who set up new kilns in the Mino are.
2) Setoguro Black Seto. Recent research has proved Setoguro does predate RAKU. This is a iron based not lead glaze achieved by the same rapid cooling form red hot method as Raku.
3) see my previous Shino blogs
4) Mino Iga a very rough ware basically Iga type but made in Mino.
5) Oribe a copper green sometimes black glaze usually green depending on what slips are used under it.
Edo period Oribe ware is also noticeworthy for the wide variety of shapes.
Oribe glaze is also used on non functional contemporary ceramic sculptures.
