Momoyama era Black Oribe Tea Bowl

Wheras Oribe normally has green and white or transperent glaze Black Oribe has Black and White but similar types of patterns.

This is a modern Black Oribe Teabowl by famous ceramicist Lex Dickson!

I couldnt find any other Setoguro and before anyone asks yes Setoguro is made by the same process as Raku ( rapid cooling) but with an ironbased glaze. The main difference I can see in close ups is that perhaps Setoguro is a little rougher in texture ?

I have read a couple of claims that Black Oribe is made using the Raku technique but the only glossy black glaze I have used has a reduction firing however that was with a gas kiln not wood fire!

Enjoy the pics!
