Phil Jimenez is doing
LEGION ACADEMY
over in Adventure Comics
While Dc Marvel and other Comics companies are busily boring older fans with blatant movie and game tie-ins Phil Jimenez like a true professional is quietly but splendidly getting on with the job of reviving the Legion Academy concept over in Adventure comics.
He's added new characters and mixed them with older characters delightfully.
As ever Phil's strong pencils have inspired inkers and colorists to do their best.
But Phil's not just great at faces clothing and personalities he also has the gift of rendering alien and future architecture with the sort of clean flowing lines and inventiveness that work well in a panell format!
Here's the planet Phlon!
My personal favorite is probably Gravity Lad whose costume is a both a tribute to the Grell era and effectively emphatic masculine.
The boy has gravitas as well as gravity manipulation powers.
Trust me if you havnt read the comic this costume really matches his personality!
I normally loathe skin tight costumes cos most of them are rendered in a manner that suggest the artists knows nothing about how clothing is made.
Given Legion Academy is set in the 31 st century the spray painted costume look is more believable especially since Jimenez has designed this costume and others to emphasize action and gestures.
And oh it works! Enjoy Legion Academy over in Adventure Comics!
