Key Words! Hot Words!

October 4th 2007 04:26
What oh gentle and less gentle readers do you consider to be HOT Keywords?

Does using Keywords work?

Why am I asking?

Well this morning I was researching key words. I remember previously seeing claims that words like red blue hot nude naked and sexy drew people's eyes.

One site I found claimed the hot 500 top keywords currently includes terms like :

game games play girl girls myspace google jessica alba youtube pictures of cats babes women mature lyrics pink and poetry and lower down dogs.

Dogs rate lower than cats!

As a joke I included the words red hot sexy alien in one of my Geocities Pages and it has had over 100 visitors! ... and oh does feature an naked alien tho not the way you might expect? If you want to see it go to My Geocities Home Page but be preprared to laugh and smile and dont tell people WHY!

Have you ever been tempted to use ceertain words cos you think that will increase the changes of your web pages sites and blogs showing up on Google?

I myslef have come across several examples of people using keywords that have minimal connection or relevance to the theme of their site which cna be very annoying when doing web research!

Whats your experience and views?

Scholia,

I admire your intelligence and I'm not diverging from your views, I think making it relevant is important but I think you can get by using sexy in different ways. e.g. a sexy car. Hot has more than one implication and I guess when people are around who are looking for a literal use of those attributes of the words you chose could be disappointed, especially those lacking in humour, and my inclination is to believe that many bloggers do lack that, and that others have it in abundance.

If people can't or won't take the time to think about what is in front of them then such duplicity, if it could be called that, is an irritant.

A good post well written.

Hi katy one of the several things I've been thinking about you is that sometimes I test my tagging on posts.

Here's an example of people misusing keywords.

I had a product up on cafepress called Green Galaxy.

It did have green in the design and a galactic spiral.

To test how easy it was to find I used Cafe Press search engines and I got back a lot of designs that may have had green and galaxy in the tagging but certainly not in the design or on the product!
