Humble Pudding
An experiment in using leftovers.
I had four slices of a loaf of whole meal bread that werent quite stale but defintely not fresh and half a carton of choclate custard I bought for some one else in the household who was sick.
Here's what I did to avoid wasting leftovers.
Grease a small loaf pan with butter or magarine.
take the four slieces of bread.
One by one crumble them up into a bowl.
Place 2/3 of th ecurmbs into the loaf pan . Spread evenly.
Put some jam spread in a thick line down the middle not touching the sides.
Place the rest of the crumbs on top over the jam.
Take two eggs and some sugar brown or raw and whip them.
Add the chocolate custard .
Blend all of that together and maybe add a dash of mixed spices?
Pour the custard / egg mix over that.
Cook it at about 200 celsius for about half an hour.
The choclate custard mixture will soak into the crumbs making a tasty pudding.
You could add leftover dry stale cereal to the crumb mixture if you have less bread available or make the custard fresh.
Fruit mince or other diced fruit or puree could replace the jam?
simple easy and a great way to get rid of leftovers!
