HOT Swallows
February 23rd 2007 22:38
It's 9:30 in my time zone - east coast australia and as I sat down to log on I looked out the window and had my inspiration for this blog.
It's going ot be hot today - the swallows are out franticly eleganlty gliding on the thermals created as the last of the night coolened iar touches the rising day's heat. They're chaisng bugs now cos if the forecast holds true for the weather the wind will drop and they will not be able to hunt ofr food until early evening.
They feel the rising heat and they're using it doing their own form of surfing!
Yes in a way they are surfing expect on waves of air not water!
Like those fortunate few who live near a beach or can get to one easily they're catching the waves ... how very aussie of them!
ME I dont have a car and there's no direct bus line to a beach where I live.
I'm going to log off and do food shopping and hopefully find some cool quiet corner of the mall to read the saturday papers!
Catch you later gentle readers when its cool again in the evening!
I'll leave with this request!
Anyone got a bird story they want to share?

to make me laugh ...
That's my bird story about watching a crow pecking at roadside grain during harvest season, as my uncle's white XP Falcon sedan zoomed past, and us kids made our way to Dutton Bay for the summer holidays ... circa 1966
