Midnight Mayhem
Having just completed a coach tour where we travelled 24 hours each way from London to Barcelona, it was always going to provide some strange situations. Sure enough the desire for one of our two French stops to involve teeth cleaning at midnight in a French Service Station was bizarre. The above photo provides a rare snapshot of life in the male restrooms. I will never see most of these guys again, let alone clean my teeth at the same foreign country!
Some other interesting points to note were the lack of any toilet seats in these French gents. It is most off putting and acts as a deterrant, even despite travelling 24 hours.
The other craziness is the way they take dogs everywhere as an accepted companion. Not only are the four legged variety difficult to avoid on crowded footpaths, let alone unhygienic in restaurants. From the above examples it can be assumed that the French don't have the same health standards as us!
