Fashion Cliches
Are you as fed up with these as me?
FOOT BLING!
No shoes or sandals are not jewellery or sculpture!
Form follows function. Their primary function is to cover and support a foot.
Decoration comes second.
Yes shoes can be pretty but they shouldn't make podiatriasts and chiropodists happy contemplating the money they'll make repairing the damage to your feet!
Yes sob I've seen this season's weird sandal boot hybrids in the shops and zines!
MODELS ARE ATHLETES!
Groan the idea or excuse that models are perfectly toned athletes and hence slender not skinny. Oh really? Seen or heard of any models being pro Olympic level athletes? And perfectly toned does not and should not mean having muscle mass that is so minimal you start wondering how much body make up the model's wearing to cover up her ribs showing?
SKINNY MODELS MAKE THE CLOTHES LOOK BETTER!
Er isn't it suppose to be the other way around?
The clothes make the wearer look more beautiful?
High Fashion is about Fantasy and Glamor and Wearable Art!
Yes WEARABLE ART. And why on earth do some designers and photographers apparently have fantasies about tall teenaged humans who look elves abusing drugs? You know the dazed near psychotic look in which the model has a facial expression suggesting either hypothermia or catatonia?
Is the ideal customer for haut couture a mega rich teenager with mental health issues?
Any Defence of Under Weight Models that uses the words SKINNY and Beautiful in the one Sentence?
Skinny is NOT a Synonym of Slender. They are two different words!
Admittedly near synonymous but ... look I have no objections to tall slender models. I and many other people however would like to see models with a VARIETY of body shapes heights and sizes though? Skinny is not the ONLY form of beauty. Okay?
Yes if you're wondering I did read the letter column in October Australian Vogue.
