A critique of Fashion for IWD
Aspects of "fashion" feminists find objectionable!
1) Encouragement of the idea that its okay to "suffer for the look"!
Somehow I dont think that's what "Our Bodies Our Choices" really means to support?
Okay so Sadomasochism is an alternative life style choice but I still think Stiletto heels are a crime against humanity!
2) The attitude that it doesnt matter if only 15 % or less of the population can fit into whatever the current "look" is and that the rest dont matter. Oh thanks SOOO NOT!
3) The constant avoidance of discussion of the (mis)treatment of textile outworkers in Australia or third world countries.
4) I also dont see Fashionistas leading protest markets to demand the CEOs of Pacific Brands donate their massive salaries to add to the redundancy payments of the workers being sacked!
What workers are not cute furry critters and gasp some of them may wear flannel plaid or worse ... clearly not important people ... ?
5) Fashionable clothes with fake pockets!
If there's one thing I really loathe its pockets reduced to useless ornamental tabs!
Designers please Design clothes with usable pockets!
On the bright side many of the FAll fashions being shown at Milan look like the affordable ready to wear version may actually be wearable by adults who are not anorexic?
