Fashion has no philosophy?

Fashion seems to have no philosophy?!
Well some fashionistas maybe?
Since the latest comment on that Garcia blog wasn't from "ANON" I bothered to read the last couple of replies.
Apparently very few of you have any sense or appreciation of irony and are sadly perfectly comfortable with the idea of letting some rich American tell you what to do so you dont have to think about style for yourseves?
Many of you also see nothing wrong or unethical in the concept that those want to be "fashionable" must be rich young and skinny and that anyone who is outside of the fashionable size ranges is fat ugly and boring or doomed to be so etcetcetc
By the Nine Muses do any of you have any capacity for insightful thought or analysis? Or compassion?
Several if not many or the majority of you need to spend less time blogging and more time reading ... perhaps Aristotle or the Dhammapada?
Philosophy? Heard of it?
STYLING FOR BRAIN CELLS?
Try it?
Am I trying too hard to be ironic and get you to think?
Well consider this. Cultivating loigc and reason might lead you to a state of awareness which will lead to you NOT viewing your wardrobe at the end of the year and thinking ....AAARGH what was I thinking when I bought that?
P.S.
Some regard aesthetics as a sub branch of philosophy?
P.P.S.
How many of you can tell me what language aesthetics and philosophy come from ...WITHOUT looking it up in a dictionary?

If you hate fashion so much, why do you keep posting on this channel? Why not write more on philosophy and post it in the culture section?
Just a... thought.

Unfortunately there's no Style section.
Also while some believe "Fashion is meant to fun" bitchiness from the League of Anonymous is not fun its malice and malice is a vice as is extreme vanity.
Would those who need to be made aware of that read the philosophy section?
You're certainly not one of the brainless twits but I do wonder about the League of Anonymous?
I dont hate fashion I loathe the idea that fashion is fun only for the young thin rich and elite. This leads to BAD design and to the rest of us struggling to find a ready to wear or any clothing brand that fits those of us who are not young thin and rich!
As I've said before for the sake of good design the concept should be promoted and supported that the purpose of good design in fashion is to be make people ( MORE) beautiful regardless of body shape and size.
By the way have you see this months Vogue yet?
What's fun or funny about Vogue telling us for months Samantha Harris would feature as the cover girl and oh dear apart from two pages she's on the cover ONLY and the main photo spread is given over to some East European or Russian girl who looks like she's 12 and a fully signed up memember of the League of Passive Waifs.
This during Australian Fashion Week?
Surely Vogue Australia should have had an all Australians issue for designers and models?
See my separate blog on this issue which I am about to post if the "highly skilled" NOT repair persons on my unit roof don't cut off my broadband signal again!
They're replacing cabling in the roof and a pergola on a neighbour's roof damaged by our local avian terrorist gang of delinquent sulphur crested cockatoos.
I am inclined to think any workman who thinks its acceptable to throw their rubbish onto another person's terrace is NOT highly skilled.
Fashion cater to everyone not just an elite of the rich young and thin.

Fashion should cater to everyone!
P.S. Everyone's studies should include a reading of Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics.
Have you read it?

I haven't read Vogue yet this month, been a bit busy I'm afraid, but will get to it. I don't buy the clothes advertised in there either, but find it a good source of inspiration and info nonetheless.
As for Aristotle, nope, I've read a decent amount of Plato but because we didn't have to study Aristotle at Uni, I didn't. Wasn't he the misogynistic philosopher, or was that another ancient Greek fellow?
With anonymous comments, just delete them, I get a ton of anonymous comments either advertising something or being deliberately antagonistic, and it takes just a few seconds to get rid of them. Seriously, if someone can't even put a name to their opinion then it is simply not valid.
That sucks, re: crappy roofers. I had a painter steal my laptop once. Some tradies are just shockers, and it's the luck of the draw whether you get good or bad ones... hopefully this fills your crap tradesman quota for a while!

I tend to skim over or thru many of the the photo spreads in vogue except to note fabric designs due to the whole passive waif thing.
Aristotle seems to be a misogynist by our standards but I see him as more of a cynical observer. Though certainly some of the ancient male writers and poets were misanthropes and sexist!
Read Plutarch's Amatorius in the loeb or Oxford Classics edition but dont read Foucaults dorky viriginity essay first .
Foucaults interpretation is just wierd and wrong. i dont think he read it in Greek!
Plutarch makes several comments on what we would call double standards and sexism.
The word translated as Virtue Arete could also be translated as excellence or even Beauty.
But to return to the original topic styling for the brain is as important as styling for the body.
I better go and take another look at the RAFW Facebook page for updates while the signal is strong.

I read your post about Nina Garcia's book. You're just a hateful person. You asked if you're trying too hard? You are. And it shows. You seem to hate everything about fashion. That doesn't make you above it.
