ENERGEEMA
In 1 Corinthinians 12 verses 6, 10 and 11 and 28 St Paul uses the word Energeema and the related noun energoon and the verb energei.
Energeema is an odd rare and unusual word. It's not Attic and apart from St Paul using it in the Corinthinians only James uses it in the bible and other authors who use this word are an odd mix of historians and philosophers, Polybius, Proclus and Iamblichus, and a very few others.
If it was truly translated literally it would be in workings en the erg radical which yes is a distant hellenic cousin of WORK.
Paul is talking about both active and potential power using the phrase diverse or different workings depending on how you translate diaresis and describes god as he who is working in all things in all, ho energoon ta panta en pasin.
This is flowing spiritual energy a gift of the spirit but is it adding gifts to us or activating latent abilities?
Some people translate this as miracles or supernatural activity and one later byzantine writer bewailed the scarity of miracles in his time.
Inworkings of the Spirit whatever they are I hope you are benefiting from them?
Something to consider ... just maybe Paul felt the Spirit could inspire us to work more effectively in day to day activities!
Remember people faith AND works. Strive to balance both?
