Does Showing Clevage Mean High or Low Self Esteem

September 21st 2006 22:25
I was on sitting on the train coming home today when a female got onboard wearing a rather revealing top which showed everyone on the train her assets. These happened to be quite big assets, but it left me thinking, is this a sign of high or low self esteem.

Does this female not have an inherent self belief in other parts of her being which means that she must flash her pompoms to every Tom, Dick and Harry on the train? If she had other ways of getting guys attention like a great personality or charming sense of humour, surely the low cut top would not be required. She must have a complex about the rest of her or based on past experiences which show that the only way she can get people to notice her is by showing her barely covered body.

On the other hand she may have high self esteem which dictates that she has no worry showing off her puppies because she knows that people want to see quality.

I guess the conclusion is that whatever makes the commuter trip more bearable works. It doesn't matter what this females self esteem is like. Although there may be some underlying issues in the life of this girl is it up to us to question them?

You know, she probably just likes showing off her cleavage. I know that sounds pretty negative to say, so I guess I'll rephrase. She may think she looks fat, but the only thing she has to show off is her huge breasts. She may just like the style of clothing, which just happened to show them off. I don't think it necessarily means she has a high or low self-esteem, but it very well could, too. It's hard to say when we don't really know the person.

I agree Joy. It is possible that she just like to show off what she may think is her best feature. She might like the attention they attract and this could be a sign of both high and low self esteem.

It is similar with job interviews and first dates. You want to make a good impression but often in doing so you wonder if it comes across as showing the opposite. Does wearing plenty of cologne mean you usually stink or are taking the attention away from your body odour? I guess it is the analytical side of me taking over!
