DC still needs an ORACLE

DC still needs an Oracle!

Barbara Gordon Oracle
Barbara Gordon as Oracle Copyright DC Comics

Comics fans of Birds of Prey are reeling cos altho Barbara Gordon will be Batgirl again there will no longer be an Oracle and many of us are dreading out how many of Gail Simone's excellent Birds of Prey stories and plots will be undone. Yes Gail we trust you to do a great job on the new Batgirl book but we'll SOOO waaah miss Oracle!

Seems to me DC needs to lead some other character step up into the role of ORACLE cyber cop for the Dc Verse.

I can think of several nominees but first I'll list some reasons why DC needs a preferably female heroine or maybe a team pretending to be one person called Oracle to be cybercops for the DCverse.

1) Positive role models for girls

2) Opportunity to take a stance on the Cyber bullying issue

I'ld love to see Oracle send out operatives to shame / confront the sort of net user who thinks its fun to goad people into suicide? Or the people who program malware or the ... yes well

3) Nature abhors a vacuum. There has to be a cybercop / super hacker to counterbalance the Calculator?

4) What poor Alfred will be left doing all the computer stuff for the Bat family when they're out in the field? That butler is so over worked !

5) Seriously DC needs to have at least one character who's a computer specialist. Most of the super heroes who are scientists are usually physicists or biologists etc. No apart from Doc Magnus his specialty is hardware robotics!

Hey DC take a look at the sales figure for Robert Sawyer's Webmind trilogy. WWW WAKe WATCH WONDER.

Maybe you could even have a character who is a sentient AI who likes humans?

Oh wait that's an original idea that isnt designed to maintain and renew DC's copyrights by recycling the characters over and over again and tieing them into games and other media to maximize profits?

Mmm?
