I Broke my RIGHT ARM

I broke my right arm!!!
Wednesday Evening I tripped on a path on the way to TAFE and now have my right arm in an immobilizing sling as its a high fracture near the shoulder. If anyone has tips on coping please share them!
Today I have chafing where the sling's rubbing again my arm and singlet top and a massive bruise covering about a third of the arm.
I dont see the physio and orthopaedic specialist until Teusday morning?
Does anyone who's been thru this know how long it takes to regain the ability to lift one's arm? I can actually move my lower right arm but cant more than a few inches cos of the sling!
How long until you get switched to a looser sling that llows support but more arm movement?
I am left hande but trying to shop cook and other stuff with one hand is awkward to say the least?
Tips anyone?
Also with my arm out of actionhow am I going to work ???? AAARGH!!!
