National Bilby Day
September 14
September 14
They look like some one crossed an exotic cat with a rat and a rabbit but yes they are real!
Back in the 20s and 30s they could still be found in Western NSW and were even kept as pets but no one thought to try and breed them in captivity until they became endangered.
The Save the Bilby Fund are promoting Sunday September 14 as National Bilby Day.
The brochure i found at the library states they're running a competition for Australian schools with one of the major prizes being a chance to have a Bilby come to your school!

This has been an unsolicited plug and I have no connection to this organsation.
Why am I giving them PR? Bilbies are an endangered species due to predation by feral cats and destruction of thier habitats by grazing and yes they are really very cute!
Enjoy the pic. Support the Bilby!
