Beijing Weather for the Games

A Secret temple somewhere in the Western Hills outisde Peking er Beijing.
Various figures suspiciously familiar to members of the Politburo are kowtowing to idols and praying.
"Please oh divine ones no bad weather for the Games!
We'll legalize your worship!
We'll tear down the Yangtze dam!
We apologize about the river dolphins!
We ...."
and much more of that style of grovelling to annoyed discarded deities ...
A couple of minor members in the back rows are muttering to each other.
"why are we praying to discarded gods?"
"the dalai lama kept breaking into hysterical laughter every time the premier rung him"
"i never heard the tibetans were weather workers?'
"just be glad you're not the secretary for religion he's still trying to find out who ignored the oracle about the earthquake in sichuan"
"does this really work bribing the dragon gods with incense and prayer?"
"probably not there's a forecast of stormy weather"

"just shut up you two annd keep praying unless you want a transfer to a border posting ... somewhere cold!"
Clearly of course this is fiction. The Chinese Government couldnt be that desperate for good weather yet ... although the smog did clear ... though there is a forecast for thunderstorms?
Maybe the dragon gods are gleefully dancing somewhere above Beijing?
