Another Letter to Kev
Number Two in a series
Number Two in a series
Dear Kev still haven't heard from you or your staff about my first letter. Did I get the tags wrong or does your staff actually use their time online doing genuine research?
Anyway Sorry day went and I appreciate your statements on housing but I still have problems. Done some maths and I figure if I get a superannuation payout at 55 or 60 I might just be able to afford a house at ... INVERELL.
Why ... well I cant afford anywhere in Sydney even Camden or Picton.
Housing Land Releases? Woo that's great if you have the money for a deposit!
Some of us ... many of us get housing stress just form rent and rates though!
The problem with building in the outskirts of the city is that housing replaces farms ... farms produce food ... food gets shipped to the city ... turn in the farms and market gardens into housing estates and the cost of food goes up cos it has to travel further to the city ... and then there's the little problem of truck related accidents blocking commuter freeways?
Said accidents frequently having been caused by the truck driver trying to stay awake on a long distance haul ...
Perhaps we need more jobs and low income housing created in country towns?
NO not out in remote drought prone areas but along the Western Slopes areas of NSW and Queensland?
Kev remember a few years back talk about building an Adelaide / Melbourne to Brisbane rail line. Yes it would be expensive but think of the jobs it would bring to country areas. Think of the jobs it would bring to steel towns like Wollongong and Newcastle making the rails and cables ? It would create apprentices and workshops for trades.
Maybe we could have mobile TAFE classes for the apprentices . One day on getting practical experience and skills that pay for their training and one day off at classes getting the theory and training?
And when they finished building the rail line maybe a few underground pipes and cisterns for water storage for the next drought? Or Solar batteries for country towns to create power to attract jobs and residents away from the big cities?
That's all for now Kev.
Any chance of an invite to the big think thank?
NO?
OH well I'm off soon to the local greengrocers to see how much the cost of freight has added to the cost of fruit and veg this week!
Any chance of declaring the last remaining market gardens near Sydney National Treasures or something?
Kev ? Kev? Are you reading this Kev?
