Oh No! Another Iron Man Review!

May 6th 2008 07:03

Oh No! Another Iron Man Review!

but at least this time its NOT by a guy!

I dont read a lot of comics nowadays, just one or two, Birds of Prey being a favorite. Hey did you know the aritst is Australian and a woman! However long ago and far faraway in my youth I was an omnivorous reader of novels, articles. magazines, and comic books.

The current movie version of Iron Man blends aspects from the whole "mythos" of the character from the 60s to this century.

What havnt the other critics mentioned yet?

One thing I havnt seen mentioned but noticed is that the film brings across the sheer joy and pleasure along with the pain involved in developing and creating something new and that doing so is hard work and leads to bruises literally as Tony tests his new toys and tools. It's made clear Tony is an addictive personality almost OC for whom work and play are intense activities but he is an creative genius and him having a relationship of a brotherly sort with Rhodes is believable. They both love hitech things. Cars planes jets.

Some critics have complained about Gwyneth Paltrow's character but remember she's an executive assistant and depicts Potts as a VERY GOOD one who uses her organisational skills to support the company and Tony even if it is to an extent of enabling his more destructive behaviours.

Clues for the next movies are strewn here and there throughout the moive and dont forget to sit thru the credits for the last minute teaser in which let us say Samuel L. Jackson has fun with eyepatches!

So if you havnt seen it yet can you enjoy it? Yes even the two American attacks the evil terrroists scenes isnt as grating as I feared. Trouble is if I tell you why it will be a spoiler?

It's almost worth seeing for the beautiful armour designs!

You ready get a feel for how effort with into the designs and wha tits like to see a passion for R&.

Its a film about characters with a passion for power ... the power both to create and destroy.
Enjoy!
